My weekend went by very quickly. On Saturday, I stood outside during a monsoon in Durham to watch my sister graduate in what was a mercifully short ceremony. Immediately after the ceremony, I walked back to my sister's apartment to help her move out the rest of her belongings. After lugging about 9 bins of shoes and purses and clothes down 3 flights of stairs, we left to go home and celebrate my mom's birthday, which was also on Saturday. I thought I was being smart this year by purchasing birthday, anniversary, mother's day, and graduation cards all at once, but I accidentally skipped one occasion and bought two of another. I didn't realize this until the last moment on Saturday as everyone was giving gifts, forcing me to resort to some fancy last-minute editing and finally presenting a card to my Mom that wished her a "Happy Mother's BirthDay", which I forgot to sign because I was so distracted by my error. On Sunday we had a graduation party at our house, where I grew unnecessarily uncomfortable watching my hilarious, yet Republican, Uncle debate with Jack and Hufton about the merits of war in Iraq.

Now, watch as I take my blog-author status and pretend that it makes my opinions more valuable than yours...
I'm sure that some of you have already, but if not, you should really watch "Donnie Darko"...don't be scared by the plot summary. Also, I suggest that you listen to Nellie McKay. She's a 19 year old who looks like she's from the 1940's, plays piano, and occasionally raps about social issues. "Sari" and "I Wanna Get Married" from the live show MP3's are pretty amusing. Okay, I'm done forcing my opinions on you...at least until tomorrow.
