This morning, I went to get a muffin and juice in the Fidelity Cafe, as I sometimes do. There was only one muffin left, but there was nothing on top of the muffin to indicate what type of muffin it might be. I decided to take it because it looked okay and, really, what's the worst thing that could be inside? I got back to my desk and took off a chunk of the muffin, only to find that it was filled with.....carrots. Carrots!?!? I hate carrots! I wasn't even aware that carrots were in the realm of muffin possibilities. I ate half of it and threw it away. Oh Monday. Will you ever be enjoyable?
On Saturday, Smilin' Andy Bean and I went on a Man Date, which, for those who aren't familiar, is an occasion where two guys -- victims of circumstance -- end up going out to dinner/movies/other date-like activities by themselves. To start the evening, we went to see "Super Size Me" at Harvard Square. We were a little early, so we bought our tickets and then went to Border Cafe to get some Margaritas (Frozen for Bean, Rocks and Salt for Adams). The movie was interesting and I would recommend it, though we had to fight off the urge to go to McDonald's immediately afterwards, just for the sake of outrageous irony. We went back to Boston Ave where we each immediately consumed 3 shots in quick succession, downed some PBR, and played chess to the sounds of Neil Young. Fernald and Steve returned home later in the evening and thus began the 4-way Mario Tennis marathon that lasted until 4:30 on Sunday morning.
Fernald managed to acquire a free couch from some young college coeds who were going to trash it. I am happy to report that, by all accounts, the couch is more spacious, more comfortable, and certainly less dusty than the couch it has replaced in our living room. dnE ehT.
