Mongoloids, Mulattos, and Mario, Oh My!
Friday night kicked off an action-packed weekend, as Hufton, Irf, Julia #2, Liz Greene and I went to see the premier of Fahrenheit 9/11 in Cambridge. I thought that the film was interesting and entertaining, but I didn't get that much new information out of it. After the movie, we met up with Andy Bean and Spiro at a the very cramped downstairs bar at the Harvard Square Uno's. We went back to Boston Ave, ravaged some pizza, and drank beers. Spiro and Andy Bean would try their hand at making a new drink...a Kahlua-less version of the White Russian, initially called the "Abrasive Mongoloid", but later changed to the equally non-PC "Mulatto". Following the invention (and disappointment) of this drink, Irf and Bean took on Spiro and I in some Mario Tennis that lasted until the sun was about to rise.
On Saturday, we went to Amy and Mark's wedding. Personal highlights included Jack's "bottoms up" with his Heineken as all others bowed their heads in prayer, Liz Cate throwing a dinner roll across the table at my head, and the "finger on the nose" game. This particular version of the finger on the nose game was thought up by Jacko and I. Jack bought a shot of 3 Wisemen, and I placed it in the center of the table, put my finger on my nose, and watched as everybody else at the table gradually followed suit. The last one to put her finger on her nose was Janet, who passed the shot to John Damaske and made him drink it, as if he lost the game. But he didn't lose the game, did he, Janet? DID HE?!?
Yesterday, Brendan, Irf, Jack and I went golfing in Lexington. We only played 8 holes because we went out late and got stuck behind a group with 2 kids in it. When we finished the first hole, we high-tailed it back to the third hole, so as to cut ahead of the kids who were still finishing up the second. A brilliant maneuver it was. We finished the night with some mexican food and Mario Tennis...a fine finish to a fine weekend. The End.
