You Can Caaaallllll Meeee Raaaalph. Call Me Ralph.
As soon as I walked out the door this morning, I saw our landlord, Bill. He's a bit of a strange guy, so I try to avoid dealing with him at all. Today, I was not so lucky.
Bill: Hey Ralph.
Brian: Hi Bill.
Bill: So, who is staying in September?
Brian: (Trying to think of joke names, but fails) Brendan and I.
I'm thinking that it's not worth telling him my real name at this point. You do not understand how difficult it is to keep a straight face when replying to a name like Ralph, and trying to envision your other roommates being called Biff, Chaz, and Monty (as Brendan has supposedly told him that these are the names we "go by"). I've decided that I'm going to actively promote myself as "Ralph" in his presence from now on. Perhaps I can even sign the lease as Brian Raymond "Ralph" Adams. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I'm not sure if that saying really applies here, but it seemed to at first.
Congratulations to Hufton, as he is presently serving the last official day of his sentence at RKM. He was also the recent recipient of a serious, law school haircut. It looks as if one third of the surface area of his head has disappeared. It's times like these that I could really use a digital camera for before and after photos.
I suggest that you check out the "Dear Student" section on the Country Gentlemen website. I believe it was actually written by Andy Bean's former roommate, Martha, to whom he introduced me by saying, "This is Brian, I met him at a bar last night and we went home together." The thing is, neither of us ever actually explained to her how we really knew each other, we just went upstairs. Irf and I may catch a rare indoor show by the Gentlemen on our trip to New York City this weekend. I'll be the one in the back, yelling "Freebird".
