Drivin' That Train...

This morning's commute was worse than any commute during the DNC. I woke up a few minutes early, which allowed me the luxury of walking to the train station instead of running. The train was about 10 minutes late, which is rare. I wish they had saved that for when I was 10 minutes late. Once I got on, the interior power went out on the commuter rail...no lights, no air conditioning. As we were packed in the front of the train, I stood next to a guy seemed to be transforming from a reasonable guy into a loud-mouthed commuter commando. The train kept stopping every few minutes and his unintelligable grunts turned into PG-rated cursing directed at train personnel. Luckily, we arrived at North Station before it turned into a situation like..uh, oh man...what was that movie from the early 90's where that businessman in L.A. goes crazy and starts bashing in all the car windows on the freeway and robs a store at gunpoint and stuff like that? I think it was a one-word title. If someone knows the name of that movie, please tell me. Anyway, I'm glad it wasn't like that movie.
Typically, when taking the 7:59 train, I can transfer to the WTC shuttle and get to work by 8:30. Today, I didn't get to North station till 8:30. Luckily, it's only 2 miles to World Trade from North Station...but the shuttle driver didn't want to take an alternate route, so it took us 30 minutes to travel 2 miles. People can walk faster than that. Even really old people.

For you left-wingers out there, Barsuk Records is coming out with the Future Soundtrack of America, a compilation featuring indie heroes like Bright Eyes, Elliot Smith, and Death Cab for Cutie. The proceeds will go to MoveOn.org and other "progressive organizations". It's available later this month. I'm out.
