Too hot in the hot train! Gonna make me sweat!
The commuter rail has been really crowded this week, which seems to be happening because 6 train-cars worth of people are trying to squeeze themselves into five train cars. It's not that the last car is missing, but rather, that it's missing one crucial element: air conditioning. Riders navigate their way from crowded car to crowded car, trying to find a seat to call home for the rest of their commute. It is then that they stumble upon what appears to be the answer to their problem: a sparsely populated car with more empty seats than the Kenny G college tour. A smile crosses their face as they step into the car...but the smile quickly disappears. It is hot as Hades in there, and the air is too thick to move. But you do get your own seat. This was the dilemma I faced yesterday, and I opted to take a seat in the sweat box. Looking at the handful of passengers around me, I felt like I was in some sort of contest to see who could stay in the sauna for the longest time. As sweat poured down my forehead, I considered leaving the car and just standing...but it was too late. The standees from the air-conditioned cars had already begun to spill out into the console between the cars. I was trapped like a rat. A very sweaty rat. Luckily, I get out at the first stop...I hope my fellow sweaty-car riders survived their commute.
Some good numbers at the polls so far for what I should now call the Question of the Week. Kudos to Spiro for his creative solution:
I propose a compromise:
Jack is allowed to call Meg as much as he wishes, but he has to do so on speakerphone with all participating bachelors present. And, participating bachelors have every right to initiate such a call whenever they like, especially during moments when Jack is impossibly drunk or engaging in wildly disgusting and inappropriate behavior. -Spiro
We've heard from most of the guys, but what do the ladies think? Should Jack be able to call his Fiancee while he's away for his bachelor party weekend? Let's hear it.
