Mmm...Open Face Club Sandwich

Tough one for the Sox last night, but they put together a nice little scoring binge at the end that inspired me to believe that they can put a win together with a healthy pitcher. Here's hoping the Yankees are no longer Pedro's daddy.

I had a small salad for lunch yesterday, so I was very hungry by the time I got to north station at 5:15. I bought a chicken sandwich at McDonald's -- Yes, I have seen "Super-Size Me" -- and brought it onto the train with me. I swear that companies have been hiring huge amounts of emloyees, because the train seems more and more packed each day. I tried to eat my sandwich privately, in the console between the train cars (small mouth + big sandwich = unpleasant sight), but the console was quickly filled with people. The guy next to me apparently caught a whiff of my chicken sandwich and said, "Mmm. That smells good." He didn't look at me or seem to require a response. I guess he was just throwing it out there, in case anybody was thinking "I wonder if that guy next to me likes the smell of that other guy's chicken sandwich?".

This morning, the shuttle bus from North Station to World Trade was so packed that I had to stand on the stairs in the front of the bus. The bus was silent for most of the ride, with everyone keeping to themselves and reading their books and newspapers as usual. Just as we stopped at the traffic light next to the Children's Museum of Science, our female bus driver shouts, "Oh, look...Arthur is gone! They must have taken him down! I didn't even notice that before!". I happened to know that she was referring to the giant inflatable Arthur the Aardvark that used to sit atop the museum. Nobody really knew what to say or how to respond to this, so the other people in the front of the bus just exchanged puzzled looks with me. Sometimes I feel like other people haven't really checked into the benefits of enjoying an inner-monologue, rather than blurting out things immediately as ideas/thoughts/comments pop into their head.

The Elliot Smith link from yesterday is fixed...now you can read about why Londonderry High School takes on the NRA. There's also this article at ThePriceofLiberty.com, which is written on the same topic, but is more bias, more entertaining, and served complete with the phone numbers of the parties at LHS who oppose this cause.

Maybe one day, somebody will write a comment and I won't feel like I'm sending really long emails that just disappear into cyberspace.
