Oh Billy
Time for a little bloggy bloggy. It's Friday, which means that I'm almost automatically in a good mood. I have some pictures from DC that Brendan took on his crazily expensive temporary phone, but my computer here has too many firewalls, so I can't use the program that I need to put them on the blog...perhaps I'll try it at home this weekend.
I've run into "Billy" a few times in the past week, and every time I see him talking to someone who seems to have a relationship with Billy that is similar to mine. They seem to be acquaintances of Billy's, making small talk, but clearly familiar with him. He used to leave me alone when I walked up to wait for the shuttle and he was already speaking with one of his other cohorts. Recently, though, he's been trying to introduce us. Today, I met "Van", which I shouldn't put in quotes, because that's his actual name, and last week I met another acquaintance who shall remain nameless, because I can't remember his name. You can imagine the complete indifference to each other that we acquaintances feel when being introduced to one another. Just imagine some guy at your office, who you don't really know, introducing you to a guy that he doesn't really know. That sounds dumb, but my brain hasn't kicked into full gear yet today. I hope to avoid Billy on the shuttle ride home tonight. He always has these crazy plans on how we can get home to West Medford faster. He carries about 5 bus schedules in his pockets and studies them constantly. Last time, he made me run for three blocks to catch a bus that was 10 minutes late, which ended up dropping me off next to the commuter rail 15 minutes later than the commuter rail would have dropped me off. I wonder exactly how many people have to deal with his antics.
You can listen to some prank calls here, made by one person using celebrity sound clips. I had to stop listening to the Arnold Schwarzenegger calls because I didn't feel like explaining to my boss why I was laughing hysterically by myself at my desk. If you click on the "soundboard" link next to each person, you can play with the sound effects yourself. I've found this to be strangely addictive.
