Hoopla

Last night was Tuesday night, which means it was time to play basketball with old guys in gym across the street. Timmy and I went over, but there were only 6 people there, so we called up Mike and Jimmy to even out the teams. Mike came over to play, but Jimmy went Christmas shopping, so we had 3 on 3 with a sub. We decided to play full court, which sucked at first, but eventually the games got better when people were too tired to run the fast break every time down the court. My embarassing moments included, but were not limited to: failing to convert a one on none fast break after I stole the ball (missed 2 lay-ups, then got fouled), getting blocked by a guy much older and shorter than me, letting that very same guy score about 12 points from the outside while I was defending him.

When I got home, I watched I'll Sleep When I'm Dead with Mike. It was decent, but I can't say I'd recommend it whole-heartedly. I was actually more intrigued by the previews of some other indy DVD's, including The Reckoning and The United States of Leland. If anyone's seen either one of them, feel free to let me know if they're worth my while.

Mike plays a fair amount of X-Box Live, which I'm only now getting used to. Basically, this involves playing online against other players, who you can also communicate with through a headset. The only thing is, when his teammates are talking to him, only the person playing the game can hear it. Last night, when I went in the kitchen while Mike was playing Halo, the house was pretty silent until I heard him yell from the living room "Look out! The invisible guy has got a shotgun and he's coming in through the roof!". I have to get used to not reacting to that. It would be a shame if, one day, an invisible guy with a shotgun actually did come in through the roof at Boston Ave and nobody listened to Mike's warning.

Sometimes it's sort of embarassing that this guy is leading us.
