My blog, my nicknames. Last night, we had a Texas Hold 'Em Poker showdown for the ages on "the mezzanine" at Boston Ave. All of the roomies were in, minus Jimmy, plus Sheri. Early on, the lead shifted from Brendan to Mike, then back to Brendan. I was hurting from a few lost head-to-head battles with Brendan, where I bet more than I should have. Sheri was the first one eliminated, curiously going all-in against Mike when she had nothing. This put Mike in the lead again, but an hour later, after a streak of bad luck, he was the next player to exit the game. Timmy went all-in against me, confident that his two pair would beat anything I had. That's where he was wrong. My three jacks led me to a one-on-one battle with Brendan. I wanted to complete my miracle comeback, and I briefly took the lead, but lost big when Brendan had two straights in a row. Much to Brendan's chagrin, I survived several "all-ins" to build my stack of chips a little higher. The Mighty Fernald proved to be too much for me to handle, though. At 12:45 AM, the game was over, Timmy was in bed, and Fernald had all of the chips in front of him, completing his second straight victory in the Boston Ave Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament of Champions. Next time he won't be so lucky.
