Pub Quiz
Last night, Tuesday Night Church Basketball was cancelled, so we made a last minute decision to go to trivia night at PJ Ryan's for the first time in quite a while. It was so last minute, in fact, that I ate my dinner in Brendan's car (ravioli, in case you were wondering). Mike came with us, and we picked up Sheri on the way. Both of them declined my offering of ravioli.
We got to the bar just as it was starting and, in a rush, decided to simply name our team "Jimmy!", in honor of our roommate who was not in attendance. When I submitted our first-round answers, I had to explain to the host exactly how to pronounce our name...
Me: Uh, if you could do it...this should be pronounced in a drawn out, scornful sort of way, like "Jiimmmmaaaayyyy"
Trivia Guy: (Blank stare) Oh. Okay.
His reaction didn't give me much hope, but when the time came, he delivered a perfect impersonation of me and continued to do so throughout the night. Unfortunately, that was one of the only highlights of the evening, as we bit the big one during the second round and never managed to catch up after that. We were split on a few of the questions, but we always ended up picking the wrong one and ignoring the right one. Just bad luck, I guess. We tied for sixth place out of twenty odd teams (there were exactly twenty teams, but they deviated from what is ordinary, usual, or expected). Someday, we will be kings of trivia again...as long as we remember that Rehoboth Beach is located in Delaware, the Seattle Supersonics were one of the 5 teams defeated in the NBA finals by the Chicago Bulls during the 90's, and Tripoli is the capital of Libya.
