"So this is the New Year...and I have no resolutions" -DCFC

Happy New Year. First of all, I'd like to thank ABC News for selecting me as one of the "People of the Year" for 2004. Sure, they talk about the people who covered the tsunami and the political conventions, but surely they're just as thankful to have people of moderate intelligence blathering on about the mundane details of their lives. Well, ABC News, you're welcome.

On Friday night, many old friends were in town, but we were all headed off to different locations. Steve and Janet came over to Boston Ave around 6:00, so we could hang out for a little while before everyone had to leave for their parties. Amy DeCamp, er, Gosztyla also showed up at the house, since she was spending New Year's eve at Timmy's dinner party, which was being held at Boston Ave. Hufton also showed up, since the two of us were going to head over to Jenn and Sarah's place for their party. We got to have some pigs in a blanket and fowl balls (chicken wrapped in bacon), courtesy of chef Timmy.

Sarah and Jenn picked us up around 9:30, but not before Hufton had recruited someone to do shots with him. This was my idea, since I decided that a shot would not be in order for me at this time, but wanted Hufton to have a drinking companion. Other good ideas of mine through the evening included:

1) Not having the fish chowder, for fear of it making a late night encore.
2) Not trying to jump in the cab that somebody else called, even though we were unable to get a cab because we kept getting busy signals when we called for one.
3) Not messing with the cell phone that we found on the porch, because I know it belonged to a big dude (this did not stop me from encouraging a young lad to answer it when the call ID read "Big House". I believe I instructed him to answer it "Yo, Big House, this is D-Train", and he did.)

Hufton and I had a good time, but decided to call it quits at around 2:30 and took the quick cab ride back to Boston Ave. Upon reaching our destination, I steered Hufton up the walkway, said hello to our neighbors smoking cigars on the porch, and hit the hay. There were still a few stragglers left from Timmy's party, but the house was mostly cleared out.

On Saturday, Hufton and I watched a movie, went out to get food (Large sub for me, large sub and McDonalds supersized meal for Hufton), then watched another movie. This was a bit too unproductive for Hufton's liking, so he headed back to Londonderry around 5:00 PM to rest up for the Millenium Mile, which Steve and Timmy also ran.

I got a digital camera for Christmas, but I somehow avoided bringing it to the NYE party. If anyone has any embarassing -- or even regular -- photos of their friends from New Year's eve, feel free to pass them along, and I'll post them here.
