Bowling for Dollars

Hello, friends. The countdown is on: 5 hours and 40 minutes until I enter my mini-vacation. Does a three-day weekend count as a mini-vacation? I think so. Especially if there are plane trips involved.

There were no comments in regards to my answers yesterday, so I'll assume that either I'm correct or you don't know if I'm correct. I figured that Kudzu would have been able to confirm or deny my guesses, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Last night, I went bowling with Sheri and Brendan. It was fun to do something different for a change, as I haven't been bowling for a while. Brendan and I decided to bet a dollar a game, letting Sheri in on the action after the first game, so we could get an accurate handicap for her. Brendan began the game with a strike, looking like he hadn't lost his form. He was upset to see that I had brought my A game as well. After I managed to string some strikes together, Brendan had a few tough splits that he couldn't convert, allowing me to open up a lead. I ended up somewhere in the 160's, while Fernald had a respectable 120-something. After a clutch mark in the 10th frame, Sheri managed to score exactly 100. We decided to split the difference and give her 42 pins to start the second game. This time, my thumb hurt, Sheri's arm got tired, and Brendan capitalized. Fernald ended up shooting in the 150's. I converted the do-or-die spare in the last frame to beat Sheri's handicapped score, just eeking into the 120's. Brendan and I got to reminisce about our days in the Malden Town Line Lane Industrial League "B". I even saw a few old guys that I recognized from teams we used to play against, though there were no spottings of Tiny Dancer (sorry Liz), Band Geek, or Hawaiian Novak.

This article sort of reminded me of the time Irf got mad at me for falling asleep (and consequently snoring/grunting) in the Harvard bookstore on the 4th of July. It's not as ridiculous as it sounds...I was sleep deprived. Okay, it's still ridiculous.

I'm including this just for the hilarious mental image that results from reading it. I may or may not be blogging from Washington, DC tomorrow, though I imagine I'll get in at least one entry before Monday. Until then...
