Pair of Jacks
Happy Friday. Hope you made it through the week in tact.

Yesterday after work, I went to Londonderry to meet with Jack -- not Jack Oolders, but rather a friend of my Dad who is, among many other things, a career counselor. We went to the Ninety-Nine and sat at the bar, while he told me some amazing stories and reassured me that I was not a complete and total failure, which is nice to hear sometimes. After a few drinks and a bowl of complimentary popcorn, I went home to see my Mom and we drove back to the Ninety-Nine to meet my Dad for dinner. Perhaps it was at this point that the waitstaff began to wonder what kind of person sits at the bar for 2 hours and then leaves, only to return 20 minutes later to have dinner with two entirely different people. Maybe they just thought "This guy loves the Ninety-Nine. He understands that it is the best deal in town", or more likely, they didn't notice. For some reason, this reminded me of the time Jack went out to dinner with us, then returned home only to find out that his relatives were taking his family out to dinner. Jack did not want to be rude and turn down the food that was being offered to him, so he dutifully ate his entree until reaching an uncomfortable level of fullness, then marched to the bathroom and vomited. That cracks me up every time.
I was glad to see this article about the comeback of the stirrup in Major League Baseball. I used to rock the stirrups loud and proud back in my baseball days (medium cut!), and I'd hate to see the traditional garb disappear from the game. More players should be encouraged to go the way of Mike Timlin, who not only sports the short pants, but as Andy Bean claims, also wears a "small glove and floppy cap" akin to those of yesteryear.
Any good plans for the weekend? I'm not sure what I'll be doing, but I'll let you know on Monday...
