Here Fishy Fishy Fishy!

Brendan is moving all of his stuff out today, and he decided to take the fish tank with him. This left our two kissing gouramis in a bit of a precarious situation, living in a tiny fishbowl together. I knew they wouldn't make it very long in those conditions, so I put an ad on craigslist.com which instructed to people to "save our fish". I posted it under "free stuff" at 1:30 AM last night, and I got my first response within 7 minutes. Unfortunately, it was a very suspicious email from Sexy_Ass_Black_Guy@yahoo.com, signed by someone identifying themselves as T ROC and asking me to drop off the fish at an unspecified location. I was afraid that I'd be getting nothing but joke emails if I got any emails at all.

When I woke up this morning, I had twenty-five emails from people who wanted to adopt the fish! Unfortunately, the larger of the two fish didn't make it through the night, so I only had one fish to find a home for. I scanned through the emails, trying to find someone who could A)pick up the fish and B) do it in the very near future. I responded to a guy named Ed, who said he worked near Alewife and could pick up the fish this morning. I emailed him my phone number and he called immediately. Within a half hour, this fifty-something Asian man was in my kitchen with a plastic bag full of water.

After we transferred the fish, I began what I like to call The Chain of Mutual Discomfort...

Me: Uh, I have kind of a weird question for you.
Ed: Yes?
Me: Could I take a picture of you holding up the fish?
Ed: I don't really know if...
Me: I have a blog, and I'd just like to take a picture of the fish and it's new owner.
Ed: Yeah, I don't really uh, like blogs.
Me: Oh, yeah I understa--
Ed: I should really get these fish back now.
Me: Oh, yeah, of course...I'll see you later.

It sort of reminded me of the awkward end of a first date, where someone goes in for the kiss and the other person backs off and then they both have to pretend that what has transpired is perfectly okay with both of them.

This link is fairly amusing, though I'm more amused that somebody thought Vladimir Putin belonged with this group(page 6).
