So that guy Ed took our fish yesterday, but today I got this email from him:

Hi Brian,

The gourami is not doing well...got it home and
it would not eat (fish flakes), stomach was shrunken.
It's swimming sideways...may not make it through
the night.

Ed!!?! What the crap am I supposed to do with that info? Make the realization that I've given our poor Gourami to an incompetant owner? Take responsibility for his shrunken stomach? Oh, he eats fish flakes? I usually fed him bananas! I probably won't write him back, but if I did, it would have sounded something like that.

Last night, the nightmare that is the Brendan and Sheri move to Philidelphia came to an end...at least for the Medford end of things. It featured not only lots of heavy items, but also one of the most untimely downpours of all time -- right as everything was laid out in the driveway, ready to get moved into the truck.

Mr. and Mrs. Fernald came down to help load all of the boxes, beds, tables, chairs, and fish tanks onto the U-Haul. First, let me say that the Fernalds love to pack, and they excel at it. Maybe you've never even thought to evaluate your packing prowess, but when you do, I don't suggest measuring yourself up against the Fernalds. You will lose. I'm telling you, there wasn't a square inch of air remaining in that 17 foot truck when all was said and done. Brendan and Mr. Fernald stood on top of the loading ramp like packing visionaries, plotting out their plan of attack to fit two bikes, an end table, and a 7 foot tall artificial tree in the last square foot of storage space. Somehow, it all fit, and I will never know how.

Good luck, Steve. That truck is on its way to Philidelphia, and it's not unpacking itself.
