I'm Not Trying to Sell You Anything

We had the power go off for a few hours this afternoon, but as soon as it turned back on, I got a call from a guy who represented the Dove Foundation.

Dove Guy: Well hello! May I speak to the lady of the house?
Brian: Uh, there aren't really any ladies in this house.
Dove Guy: Well, then may I speak with the man of the house?
Brian: Yeah, well, I guess I'm one of them.

At this point, I imagine that Dove Guy thinks he has accidentally called some sort of gay brothel.

Dove Guy: Often times, adults feel that there is nothing they can do to protect their children from the lewd images on television aside from sitting down and watching television with thier children to decide what is and is not appropriate. Do you feel this way, sir?
Brian: Um, sure.
Dove Guy: And do you have any children or grandchildren under the age of 16, sir?
Brian: Haha! No.
(Long Pause)
Dove Guy: Well, that's okay! We like to hear from all sorts of responsible adults!

He then went on to get me to agree with a bunch of statements about wholesome television and ultimately just wanted to know if it was okay to call again. Against all reason, I said yes. Maybe next time I'll play the role of irresponsible adult with many children.

Lastly, the Philadelphia residents amongst you may be concerned about this recent study.
