Interview with a Vampire

I'm still a little thrown off from Steve's visit to Boston this weekend. The two of us met up with Janet on Saturday night and a bunch of us attempted to go out to dinner at Vinny Testa's -- but we failed. The wait was really long, so all 12 of us ordered individual meals and took them back to 1900 Beacon Street, home of the Green Line Guys. The staff at the restaurant did very little to pretend that they didn't hate us for taking up all the space in the lobby, ordering lots of food, and not giving them a tip. We understood their hatred.

Afterward, Steve and I were given the option of going back to Janet's house and watching her make a cheesecake or going to a karaoke bar in Cambridge to watch Ryan "Mr. Roboto" Murelli do his thing. Ryan once entered a Karaoke contest with a few celebrity judges, including Jordan Knight of New Kids fame. As the story goes, Jordan told him that "I could just watch you sing for days". Yes, he's that good. Unfortunately, before Ryan could pick his song, another regular began to sing his interpretation of Mr. Roboto. Steve and I thought it would be even better if he went up immediately after and just tried to show the guy up by performing his rendition as a follow-up, but we doubted that the host would allow it. He ended up performing "And We Danced", originally sung by The Hooters. Don't post a comment about that...it's too easy. Anyway, he rocked the house appropriately, though another guy we were with stole the show by closing out the night with a surprisingly good version of "Viva Las Vegas". After closing time, Steve and I got a ride back to Brookline and then decided to stop by one of Steve's friends' house around Central Square. We didn't get home until very early in the morning, which left Steve in perfect shape to perform the duties of the Godfather at his nephew's Christening on Sunday. I'm sure we'll be much more responsible when I go to Philly in two weeks. Mmmm...just kidding.

I went for a job interview today. That is, I interviewed for a job that would become my "back-up" job if I'm not hired anywhere in the next few weeks. I would be working for a company called Upromise, which deals with college savings plans. Strangely enough, it's right accross the street from my sister's office in Needham. I would be working a 4 to Midnight-type shift, which I figured would work out okay, since I'd still be interviewing during the day. That's all, folks.
