By the Beard of Zeus!
It's post Turkey Day and I'm looking to get back into normal eating habits (ex: Not following every meal with pie). I think this will help me achieve my long term goal of not weighing 500 pounds.
In other news, I'm now on Day 4 of my Practice Beard. Why practice, you ask? I'll explain. I'm probably going to shave it off for the wedding on December 10th. Then, I'd like to look properly groomed for Christmas and New Year's Eve, but I think that my real beard will begin on January 1st and end around April Fool's Day, if I can hold out that long. My practice beard will give me a good time line of my current facial hair growth abilities. If I were to guess now, I think I should reach true beardhood by Day 10.
As a fairly hairy man, I have had to deal with 'tweeners in the past. A 'tweener is a hair that does not obviously belong to one particular group of body hair (chest, facial, etc). In my experience, the most common occurance of the 'tweener is between the upper chest hair and the lower facial hair. With my lastest beard adventure, I have noticed a new phenomenon. I've got some stray hairs that are growing too far behind my jaw line to be considered part of my facial hair, but not far enough back to fall into the category of neck hair...you know, the ones that the barber shaves below your actual hairline. I'm not sure what to do with them. I think I'm going to shave them for now and hope that I don't develop a five o'clock shadow all the way around my neck -- though that would totally get me into the Guiness Book of World Records...right next to this guy. Alright, I've got to get ready for work. I'll try to post some beard photos soon.
