Like the Syrup or the Leaf?

I'm still trying to get used to my new schedule. The hardest part is actually trying to go to bed soon after returning from work between midnight and 2:00 AM. If I wind down for a few hours, that puts me to bed near 4:00 AM, which just doesn't seem right.

I'm working with a pretty interesting group of people. Everyone is tied together by the fact that they've got at least one year of experience in the financial industry. That's pretty much where the similarities end, though. There's a classically trained singer, a radio announcer, a professional musician, and a girl who works at Hot Topic. And then there's Maple.

Maple is a woman who would be well-served by the famous quotation "Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt". But then we wouldn't get the entertainment.

After explaining that checks cannot be made out to beneficiaries, Maple asked our instructor "Why don't the benefisheraries get the checks?"

Please, don't say "Benefisheraries" again, or I'll definitely laugh out loud.

"Ain't the Benefisheraries gonna git the money?"

Deep breaths, Brian. Deep breaths.

Later, when our instructor was discussing requests for new fund allocation, I looked across the boardroom table at Maple, who wore the expression of someone who has just smelled the most sour blast of flatulence imaginable. I think my goal for the week is to not laugh out loud during our training.
